Design System

The structured collection of tokens, components, and patterns that codifies a brand's design language as reusable code.

A design system makes a design language operational: tokens (colors, type, spacing) plus components (button, input, card) plus patterns (form layouts, page templates) plus governance (naming, contribution rules). AI2 Design's catalogue often references public design systems — Vercel's Geist, Radix Themes' alpha-scale palette — when the catalogued site exposes them. A design system is the bridge between language (abstract) and product (shipped).
