Minimum Tap Target

The smallest size (typically 44×44 CSS pixels on touch, 40×40 on pointer) at which an interactive element remains reliably tappable.

WCAG 2.2 mandates 24×24 minimum target size (level AA) and 44×44 (AAA). Apple's HIG and Material Design converge on 44×44 for touch. AI2 Design's catalogued sites mostly hold this floor — Linear's smallest button is 32×32 desktop but extends to 44×44 on touch via padding. The rule prevents the rage-tap of a tiny mobile link that requires three pinch-zooms to hit.
