Tools & Extractor Terms

These Tools and Extractor Terms ("Tool Terms") govern your access to and use of the Extractor and any other free tools that ai2 makes available from time to time on the ai2 website at ai2.design (each a "Tool", together the "Tools"). The Tools are operated by BEY AGENCY LTD ("we", "us" or "our"), a private limited company registered in England and Wales under company number 16435596, whose registered office is at 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, United Kingdom, WC2H 9JQ.

These Tool Terms supplement, and are additional to, the Terms of Service published at /legal/terms and the Acceptable Use Policy published at /legal/aup. They do not replace those documents. Where these Tool Terms address the same subject matter as the Terms of Service specifically in relation to the Tools, these Tool Terms apply to the Tools; in all other respects the Terms of Service and the Acceptable Use Policy continue to apply in full.

By submitting a URL to the Extractor, downloading any export it produces, or otherwise using any Tool, you confirm that you have read, understood and agree to be bound by these Tool Terms. If you do not agree, you must not use the Tools.

The Tools are provided free of charge. There is no paid tier and no paid API for the Tools themselves, and none of them is gated behind a licence. This is separate from the paid ai2 licences sold elsewhere on the site, which are governed by the Terms of Service at /legal/terms and the License at /legal/license: buying a licence does not change what the Tools do, and using the Tools does not require one. If we ever introduce a paid offering for a Tool, separate terms will govern it and will be presented to you before you incur any charge.

The Theme Generator at /tools/theme-generator is also covered by these Tool Terms. Part of it is live today: the accent dialer works, is free and needs no account. The full generator is still in preparation, so nothing on that page should be read as a commitment that the complete tool exists yet. Output you copy from the live part is yours to use in your own projects on the same as-is basis as the rest of this document.

The Extractor is a free tool. You submit the address of a publicly accessible web page. We load that page in a headless browser and attempt, on a best-effort and automated basis, to identify a set of observable design characteristics of the page and return them to you. A run currently produces five things: the design tokens we could observe, an inspector view of the page, an accessibility matrix, a summary of the image strategy and the page metadata. Curated entries in the Inspiration Gallery carry further material that we generate separately; a live run of the Extractor does not produce it.

The characteristics we attempt to observe include colours, typography, spacing, motion, gradients and similar visible design properties. What can be extracted depends entirely on how the target page is built, and some characteristics may not be detectable at all.

The Extractor can present the resulting token bundle in a number of export formats, currently including Tailwind configuration, CSS custom properties, a W3C design tokens JSON file and Markdown. Available formats may change over time.

No account is required to use the Extractor. Use is rate-limited, and results are stored only transiently, as described in sections 5 and 6.

You are solely responsible for the URLs you submit and for your use of anything the Tools return. By submitting a URL you represent and warrant that each of the following is true.

• You have the right to submit the URL and to have the page at that URL analysed by an automated tool for your intended purpose.
• The target is a genuinely public web page that can be reached without authentication, and requesting it is lawful in your jurisdiction and in the jurisdiction where the page is hosted.
• You will not submit private, internal or authenticated resources, pages behind a login, localhost or loopback addresses, private or internal network addresses, cloud or instance metadata endpoints, or any other target intended to probe infrastructure or to trigger server-side request forgery.
• You will not use the Extractor to circumvent access controls, paywalls, rate limits or other technical or legal protections on any target.
• You are responsible for reviewing, verifying and lawfully using any output, including for checking that your reuse of anything derived from a third-party site complies with that site's rights and licences.

You agree to indemnify us against any claim arising from a URL you submit in breach of these warranties or from your use of the output.

All output from the Tools, including any token bundle and any export format, is produced on a best-effort and fully automated basis and is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. It may be incomplete, approximate, out of date or simply incorrect.

The output is not authoritative and is not a substitute for professional judgement. It does not constitute legal, design, accessibility, compliance or any other professional advice. You must verify the output before you rely on it for any production, commercial, regulatory or accessibility decision.

Extracted values describe our automated reading of the observable characteristics of a third-party page at the moment it was fetched. They are a factual, machine-generated description only. They are not our endorsement of, association with, or verification of the target page, its owner or its content, and they may differ from the design values the target's own authors actually used.

Use of the Extractor is rate-limited to protect the Tools and the people whose sites are fetched. The current limit is approximately two runs per rolling twenty-four hours per IP address, rather than a fresh allowance at midnight. This limit is indicative, may change without notice, and may be applied differently to different addresses or patterns of use.

We may throttle, queue, delay or refuse requests at any time, and we give no guarantee of throughput, capacity or turnaround. Attempts to evade the rate limit, for example by rotating addresses or automating submissions, may lead to blocking under section 9.

When the Extractor produces a result, we store it transiently on our servers so that you can retrieve it. Results are held for approximately two hours and are then deleted from our active systems. We do not guarantee that a result will remain available for the whole of that window.

Each result is made available at a private link that is hard to guess. That link is not published by us, but it is not otherwise protected: anyone who obtains the link during the retention window can view the result. You should treat a result link as semi-public, share it only with people you trust, and not rely on it as a private or permanent store.

Do not submit URLs that contain secrets, access tokens, session identifiers, personal data or any other sensitive information in their path or query string. Such values may be processed, logged transiently and shown back to you in the result, and you submit them at your own risk. Export and save anything you wish to keep before the retention window ends.

The content, design, code and branding of any target site belong to their respective owners. Nothing in the Extractor transfers any right in a target site to you or to us, and running the Extractor grants you no licence over the target.

A token bundle is a factual, machine-generated description of observable characteristics. It is not a copy of the target's source, assets or content. Even so, values derived from a third-party site may still reflect protected material, and you are solely responsible for ensuring that any reuse of output complies with the target owner's rights, trade marks and licence terms.

The Tools are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We give no guarantee of uptime, availability, continuity or performance, and the Tools are not offered with any service level commitment.

We may change, pause, limit, degrade or withdraw any Tool, in whole or in part, at any time and without notice, including to protect the stability or security of the Service, to comply with law, or to protect third parties whose sites are being fetched. We are not liable to you for any such change or withdrawal.

Your use of the Tools is subject to the Acceptable Use Policy published at /legal/aup, which is incorporated into these Tool Terms by reference. The responsibilities and prohibited targets in section 3 above sit alongside that policy.

Where we reasonably believe a Tool is being abused, used to harm the Service, or used to target third parties unlawfully or without permission, we may block your access to the Tools, rate-limit or refuse your requests, or remove stored results, at our discretion and without notice.

Any site you submit to the Extractor is a third-party resource that we neither control nor endorse. Listing, fetching or extracting from a site does not imply any relationship with, approval of, or verification of that site or its owner.

We are not responsible for the content, accuracy, safety, availability or legality of any target site, nor for anything that happens as a result of a target site responding to a fetch. Your decision to submit a particular URL, and your use of whatever is returned, is yours alone.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Tools and their output are provided "as is" and "as available", and we exclude all warranties, conditions and representations that are not expressly set out in these Tool Terms, including any implied warranty of accuracy, completeness, satisfactory quality, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.

Nothing in these Tool Terms limits or excludes any liability that cannot be limited or excluded by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence or for fraud. If you are a consumer, these Tool Terms do not affect your statutory rights, which remain unaffected.

Subject to the paragraph above, our liability arising out of or in connection with the Tools is limited and capped consistently with, and forms part of the same single aggregate cap set out in, the Terms of Service published at /legal/terms. Because the Tools are provided free of charge, using them does not increase that cap.

We may update these Tool Terms from time to time, for example to reflect changes to how a Tool works, new free tools, or changes in law. When we do, we will update the version identifier and the date of last update shown at the top of this document.

Any change takes effect when the updated document is published. Your continued use of the Tools after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Tool Terms. If you do not agree with a change, you must stop using the Tools.
